Our furniture is made from quality solid wood and is crafted to our specification overseas using traditional methods giving the ranges a unique and timeless rustic appearance, the furniture comes in a variety of finishes from natural unstained wood showing all the natural variations within the wood to ranges stained in rich Mocha offering various depths of colour to enhance the natural beauty of the wood whilst creating a contemporary twist.
All the ranges are finished with a lacquer to offer protection from everyday use. Each piece will have individual characteristics making it unique and will age over time which adds to the beauty of the wood. All our timbers are dried to beyond acceptable moisture contents however wood is a natural fibre and may be prone to small amounts of movement, we would consider a small amount of movement completely normal and should not compromise the structural integrity of the piece.
Please note some items will have traces on filler to ensure the furniture is to the highest standard without compromising the natural furniture look and feel.
If your furniture features such traces please note that this is normal and applied to the furniture during the manufacturing process.
We will provide you with a care leaflet at the time of delivery detailing how best to care for you furniture and with tips to repair common damage problems. Please read the following section if you need to see this information again;
Due to the natural waxes used in our furniture, spilled liquids and oils may cause markings. Every care should be taken to prevent spillages but should this occur immediately remove the liquid and gently dry with a soft cloth. Hot and cold items such as crockery should not be placed directly onto the surface of the furniture, we advise the use of placemats and coasters to protect the wood.
In order to retain the natural beauty of the wood we recommend you use a good quality propriety wax which is readily available on the market. Apply the wax with a lint free cloth using a circular buffing motion.
COMMON DAMAGE REPAIR
Scratches can be treated with coloured wax repair crayons which are available from good hardware stores.
Heat damage can be treated by using an extra fine steel wool (0000 grade), rub very gently following the grain of the wood over the damaged area, apply oil (such as olive oil) and wipe with a clean soft cloth. Once this process has been completed and is fully dry, polish and buff to a shine, if the furniture has a stain take care not to remove the stain or you will need to re-touch this area.
Stuck Paper can be removed by soaking a little olive oil over the paper, once soaked in and using steel wool (0000 grade) rub gently over the area following the grain of the wood, wipe dry, polish and buff to a shine.
Spilled Paint can be treated by wiping water based paints immediately with a damp clean cloth then buffed with wax to a shine, paint that has dried or partially dried is likely to damage the finish of the furniture however remove immediately and remove any residue using the wire wool and buffing technique described for treating heat damage.
Nail Polish or polish remover needs expert advice, please contact a French polisher or specialist.
Cloudiness can be resolved by dipping a soft nonabrasive cloth in a mixture of one tablespoon of vinegar and a quarter of water and rubbing in the direction of the grain until the surface is dry.
